In 1912 Alfred Ritter and Clara Ritter Found the Ritter Chocolate Company. In 1932 Clara Ritter designed Ritter Sport to be square so that it can easily fit in a pocket with out breaking. Ritter Chocolates and confections were produced up until World War II and then chocolate production was suspended until cocoa is again available in 1950. The Ritter Sport Brand was created in 1970 and was advertised with the slogan
“Quadratisch. Praktisch. Gut.” (Square, Practical, Good).
This German Chocolate company has been selling chocolate and Ritter Sport Bars internationally since 1970. We began importing and selling Ritter Sport Chocolate at www.eatwell.net in 1979. We were selling Ritter Sport Chocolates long before the internet. Our large customer base means that we usually have all the bars in-stock and that the chocolate is fresh.
In 1976 the sealed wrapper packaging and its’ unique snap-open-pack were introduced and quickly developed into a distinctive feature of the Ritter Sport brand. Now, in its new “green” building Ritter Sport is ecologically innovative in using heat from the production process to heat the building saving primary energy and reducing CO2 emissions.
Recently, the health benefits of chocolate (Dark chocolate in particular) have been equated to taking an aspirin a day. Many of our customers are purchasing the new 71% Ritter extra bitter bar for this purpose.
The company is still managed and owned by the Ritter Family.
